New Mercedes signing Lewis Hamilton has returned to Top Gear as he attempts to beat Sebastian Vettel’s record lap on the ‘reasonably-priced car’ segment.
Hamilton fist appeared on the show as a fresh faced rookie in 2007 and set an impressive lap of 1:44.7 on a wet track, only 0.7s slower than Vettel’s record time.
The BBC confirmed this time however Hamilton had a real shot at beating the record.
“This time the track is dry and Lewis is taking no prisoners in his attempts to smash the lap record,” they said.
The episode will air later today Australia time in the UK, with an Australian air date yet to be confirmed.
